Wedding Wednesday: Green Wedding Details

My beautiful niece Alix married her sweetheart Trevor on January 3rd. She selected emerald green and navy as her main colors. She incorporated them through little handmade details used throughout the reception. I love the vintage, yet modern look she accomplished. She is a very fashionable young lady, but I doubt she knew that the Pantone Color Institute selected Emerald as the 2013 color of the year.

Here is the stunning bride and my beautiful sister Heather. Alix made the pinwheels (I helped a little) for the backdrop where she and her husband stood to greet guests, as well as a display of them hanging over a table where gifts were placed. She selected a variety of shades and patterns and they really added a lot of texture to the decor. Don’t know how to make them? Here is a tutorial.

Guests were served their choice of freshly baked pie and scoops of vanilla ice cream. The green rosettes and green beading trailing around the wood slabs and burlap really added a feminine feel. The monogram letters covered in patterned paper and the food labels carried the paper crafts from the pinwheels to the food table.

For table decor she included beautifully framed photos from her bridal shoot, flameless candles, wood slabs and mason jars were wrapped with burlap and grossgrain ribbon and then filled with green and white flowers.

Hanging over the corner where her guest book was displayed were dozens of jute strings with emerald green fabric ties on them to mimic the look of a kite tail. It was adorable. On the gift table she added a vintage suitcase adorned with tatted lace doilies done by her grandmother and great-great grandmother for guests to deposit cards into.

If you are planning a wedding, shower or rehearsal dinner that will feature green, now is the time to buy – on some things. While most of the cheesy St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decorations won’t really carry over for your wedding – paper, stationary and fabric will, and right now they are available in green in abundance.
