Wedding Wednesday: Out of town guests

out of town guests

If you have family coming in town for your wedding, chances are some of them may be staying with you or with your parents. My friend Megan gave me a fun idea when she and my sister swapped houses for a night so my sister could have a night away from her kids. She turned her house into a “hotel” – well “Jardim Betinha Inn and Suites” to be exact. 🙂 And you can do the same! Adding little touches goes a long way to making out of town guests feel welcome and special. For Megan’s full post, go here.

Tidy up the room they will stay in, wash the sheets and put a few magazines and bottles of water on the bedside table.

On the bathroom door:

Clean the bathroom, set out fresh towels and a new roll of toilet paper.

I thought this was hilarious – doesn’t this happen all the time when you book a hotel?! 🙂

bathroom amenities

Megan is so clever, she turned the towels into angels and even branded the little soaps. 🙂 I have an unusual amount of hotel soaps/shampoo/etc. because I travelled a lot as an event planner and felt the need to save them all. They make for great home storage! 🙂 But really, leaving them a fresh bar of soap and a clean set of hand towels and wash cloths goes a long way.

Again, so funny, but really it makes you feel better as a guest. 🙂

Breakfast table:

If you happen to head out for the day before your guests are up, make sure it is clear to them what is available for breakfast and invite them to help themselves to anything they can find. As a guest, they will appreciate the open pantry – even if they are family.

ammenities for food

Living with out of town guests while planning the biggest day of your life can be stressful. Ease that a little by doing a little preparation so they aren’t asking you for towels, soap, where the cereal is, etc. when you are busy getting things ready for your day!
