Peanuts Birthday Party Ideas

My son is so in love with the Peanuts Movie and LOVES Snoopy, so as his second birthday approached I knew I wanted to have a Peanuts birthday party. Hold on tight, I usually separate these posts since they are so photo heavy, but I’m combining all of the Peanuts birthday party ideas I used into one giant post today!

I purchased the Peanuts paper plates, napkins and tablecloths at Target, but you can also get them, along with a wide variety of other Peanuts Party Supplies on Amazon . If you have Amazon Prime, it’s worth it since I can’t seem to leave Target without $100 in things I didn’t anticipate buying (it’s not just me is it?). Target is also where I got the yellow tassels (on clearance – wahoo!) and balloons. I used the red accordian fold decorations I used for the baseball birthday party I did last year – but you can get them here

I found a few quotes from the Peanuts Movies that I liked and drew thought bubbles on some white poster board and wrote in the phrases. I couldn’t leave out Lucy’s psychiatric help for $.05, the baseball quote went perfectly with the hot dogs we were serving and then I just love that Sally always exclaims “O Sweet Baboo!” and Charlie is always lamenting, “Good grief!”. They helped turn generic decorations into a themed piece. I used fishing line and tape to hang everything from the ceiling. But on the heavier signs, I used a Command hook rather than tape. On the dessert table I made some balloon and photo centerpieces. I took two red buckets from Dollar Tree and filled them with tissue paper and floral foam. Then I stuck balloons on sticks (you can get the sticks here) into the floral foam. Last I googled some images from the movie and printed them on card stock paper, cut them out and glued them onto bamboo skewers and added them to the center.

I searched online for a Snoopy dog house I could just purchase, but couldn’t find one. My search did turn up a few DIY Snoopy Dog Houses so I came up with my own. Luckily, we just bought furniture and had lots of cardboard. I traced and cut out the pieces using 12 x 12 scrapbook paper as my guide to make sure everything was square. Then I used red poster paint and charcoal craft paint to paint each piece. Lastly, I used a hot glue gun to adhere all of the pieces. It’s surprisingly sturdy, and it’s the perfect home for his Dancing Snoopy doll that he got for his birthday!

Charlie Brownies: I used this amazing brownie recipe (it is seriously the best!) and added vanilla frosting with yellow food coloring in it to the top. Then I purchased a cake decorating frosting bag in black and piped on the zig zag.

Snoopy’s Puppy Chow: I used this recipe from Our Best Bites for the Puppy Chow (also called Muddy Buddies). I even made them a day ahead and they were perfect!

Cupcakes for the Dance: In the movie Charlie Brown has to bring cupcakes to the winter dance. The scene in the movie is so cute because Snoopy ends up eating them on the way to the dance. The cupcakes have green frosting, so that’s what we did. I just used a vanilla cupcake mix and green vanilla frosting with a few sprinkles. The cute cupcake toppers are from HaleGrafx – a FREE printable!

Charlie Brown Cups: I purchased yellow paper cups at Dollar Tree and used a black marker to draw zig zags on them so they looked like Charlie Brown’s shirt. They went perfect with the lemonade and red stripe paper straws.

For dinner, oh man, it was delicious. We bought JDawgs (a local gourmet hot dog shop) and added a veggie tray, grapes, a variety of chips and a giant crockpot of baked beans. The baked beans are my mother in-law’s recipe and I dream about them, they are so amazing! I’ll have to share her recipe sometime soon.

So, that was the party – it was relatively simple since so much of it was purchased at the store and everyone had a great time! Most importantly, my little guy had a great time!
