Vintage Airplane Shower Printables & Games

The fun continues with post #2 about this cute Vintage Airplane baby shower I did for my niece. Today I’ll be sharing the FREE printables, favors and fun activities we did at the shower.

I followed my Rules for Hosting a Shower on a Budget and prepared 3 activities for the guests.

Vintage Airplane Shower Activities:

The first was Advice Cards. To help it fit with the Vintage Airplane theme, I ordered these Vintage Postcards on Amazon and asked guests to fill in advice to the new mom on them and slip them into the cute little suitcase. This was something that the guests could do while they mingled and it was helpful to the mom!

Chinese Chicken Salad

This Chinese Chicken Salad is always a BIG hit at any event I bring it to. It’s the perfect salad for a Ladies Lunch, Bridal Shower or Baby Shower. In fact, the first time I made this for a baby shower, me and two of the others hosting the shower each brought 2 salads to make a little salad buffet and this was the first salad to be gone because people LOVED IT!Chinese Chicken Salad - eventstocelebrate.net

Baby Shower Bingo

Baby Shower Bingo is my favorite shower game out of all of them. Why? It gives guests something fun to do while the gifts are opened! The gift opening can often take a long time, depending on the number of guests. Let’s be honest, sitting there ooh-ing and aah-ing at outfit after outfit can be a tad bit boring. Raise your hand if you’re with me! This way, guests get to play a game and compete for fabulous prizes (like this cute Pedicure Set or this Sugar Scrub)

Win, win!!

Baby Shower Bingo - Free Printable Cards in Black and White so you can print them on any color paper to fit your theme!

You’ll notice that I did this in black and white. That is so you can print it on whatever color of paper/cardstock you need to fit the colors you’ve chosen for your theme. If you’re following along with my post about HOW TO HOST A SHOWER ON A BUDGET – these fit perfectly with my rule of 3 games, and using Free Printables! Go you!  You’re going to rock this shower hosting gig!

Diaper Cake Tutorial

Diaper Cake Tutorial - Events To Celebrate

I still remember the first time I made a diaper cake for a baby shower. It was before the days of Pinterest and YouTube tutorials. It was kind of a disaster. I had seen one in a photo and figured it couldn’t be that difficult, but it took me a little while to figure out how to get everything to stay together. Let me give you a few tips that will help you put one together.

BRIDAL SHOWER BINGO

Last night at the bridal shower for my nephews soon-to-be bride, we played Bridal Shower Bingo. It’s one of my favorite games to play at a shower (baby or bridal) because it gives the guests something to do while the gifts are opened. I will admit, it is a totally selfish reason for me, because I find the gift opening to be really boring most of the time. This turns it into a fun game with guests shouting BINGO when they’ve got 5 in a row. Then I let them pick a prize and the gift opening continue!

I created a really simple and FREE PRINTABLE Bridal Shower Bingo card. Have a great time at your next bridal shower with it! Simply print it out, distribute to guests with a pen and have them fill in the squares with gifts they think she might receive. Then as gifts are opened they cross off any they guessed correctly. When someone gets 5 in a row, they yell “BINGO!” and get a small prize.

Birthday Cake Alternatives

I recently posted about the Brownie Dessert Pizza I made for my husbands birthday. If you’ve got a birthday headed your way and the person you’re celebrating doesn’t care for cake or can’t have it because of dietary restrictions, I’ve got some really great birthday cake alternatives they’ll be sure to love!

I think you’ll find that they won’t feel like an “alternative” at all, and you may just find yourself a new tradition!

10 Birthday Cake Alternatives

1- Dessert Pizza

I made this decadent brownie dessert pizza for my husbands birthday and it was amazing. It had a homemade chocolate buttercream, homemade quick caramel sauce and M&M’s® Crispy on top. It was awesome! You could do a sugar cookie base, cream cheese frosting and lots of fresh berries for a fruit pizza too – that’d be perfect for spring!

2 – Waffle Cake

If you’re hosting a slumber party for your birthday boy or girl, this would be the ultimate way to wake them up! I love that Rachel at Eazy Peazy Meals used a boxed cake mix in hers. Genius!

3- Cookie Tower

Whether your favorite cookie is an Oreo, Chips Ahoy or something else, pile them up and call it good! Serve with ice cold milk and you’ve really got a party going. The Birthday Cake Oreo Cookies would be perfect for this! 10 Birthday Cake Alternatives - eventstocelebrate.netOreo Cookie Tower from Fab You Bliss

4- Ice Cream Sandwiches

These homemade peanut butter cookies are only made better by one thing – the homemade strawberry ice cream sandwiched between them. Perfect for any size party because you can make the cookies large or small and pre-scoop the ice cream and keep them in muffin tins until you’re ready to use them!

5- Dipped Fruit

This is the perfect solution for kids with allergies or even if your looking for a healthier alternative. Set up a chocolate fondu station with lots of fruit options to dip or make chocolate (or yogurt) dipped bananas with lots of topping choices.

6- Ice Cream Bar

I absolutely love this option. It let’s guests customize their own dessert. Simply offer a few ice cream flavors and lots of topping and sauce options and you’re all set!

7- Cookie Cake

I still remember when I saw Kelsey Nixon post this on Instagram when she made it for her son’s birthday. It’s brilliant, and she has step by step instructions on her website so yours can look (and taste) just as good! I love that you could totally customize this by using chopped candy bars instead of chocolate chips.

 8- Build Your Own Pie

I’ve seen this idea done at showers, but using the snack packs really makes it kid friendly!

9 – Rice Krispie Cake

I happen to be one of those people that can eat an entire pan of rice krispie treats. So, for me, this “cake” would be heaven! Layers of treats are sandwiched with lots of frosting and sprinkles!

 10 – Donut Tower

II agree with them, that it is more striking when you have one type of donut, but mixing it up will make the most guests happy. No time to bake? Just pick up some donuts at the grocery store bakery. This would be the perfect solution to the no-cake-conundrum.

And since these ideas look so much better, especially for a birthday party, served on a cake stand, I thought I would link you to my favorite. Its a simple white porcelain cake stand that is super versatile! You can buy it here: Porcelain Round Cake Stand
