For the month of November, each day leading up to Thanksgiving we are going to write something we are thankful for on a leaf and add it to our Thankful Tree. My daughter, Lucy, is two years old and is just learning how to pray. She always gives thanks for the most simple things (ie. her trampoline, Snow White, suckers). She helps us so much to focus on the simple, yet abundant blessings we have in our lives. When I asked her what we should write on each leaf, she listed those things that matter to her: Mom & Dad, Grandma & Grandpa, her friends Hannah, Taylor and Sue and her trampoline. I love seeing the world through her eyes.

Thankful Tree Craft: 

To make our Thankful Tree I turned on my Silhouette Cameo (really, if you love to craft, this should be on your Christmas list if you don’t already have one) and found a bare tree image. Because I wanted it to be poster size, I sized the image 3x the size of a normal 12 x 12 paper and cut the tree in three sections. If you look closely you can tell where the patterns don’t match up. Then I used patterned scrapbooking paper (from Close To My Heart) to cut out several leaf shapes. I tucked the leaves in a small paper envelope and added that to the poster.

Now we are all ready to hang it in the kitchen on November 1st and because it is mounted on a poster board we can move it if we need to. I’ve also considered laminating it so it can be used year after year.
