Family Halloween Costumes
I love coming up with our family Halloween costumes each year and this year was no different! If you’ve seen our Monster Halloween door decoration and our Monster Trunk or Treat idea, you probably guessed that our family halloween costume would be Monster themed as well! I wanted easy halloween costumes so I purchased pieces and did a little DIY on some. So, if you’re on the hunt for some funny halloween costumes or some cheap halloween costumes, look no further! Let me show you how easy it was to make!
Family Halloween Costumes
Because I’m going to be wrangling kids all day I wanted one that I could wear easily. This was the perfect compromise to being dressed up but still functional. I started with a plain teal t-shirt.
Using left over fur from our awesome Halloween door monster, I cut a rectangle out of the lime green fur and placed it in the center.
I cut several oval/circle shapes out of dark pink craft felt and placed them where I wanted. Then I used 3M spray adhesive to attach all of the pieces to the shirt.
Couples Halloween Costumes
I used the same steps to create a shirt for my husband. What a good sport! This would make such a great, easy and cheap couples Halloween costume! My shirt was accented by a Monster headband and cuffs from Amazon.
Halloween Costumes for Kids
For my son I used an old Elmo costume and added felt shapes to make his costume. For him and my husband I made their headbands accented with chenille stems coiled up and plastic eyeballs from Dollar Tree. A hot glue gun is one of my best crafting tools!
For my daughter, the Polka Dot Monster costume from Amazon was perfect! She can wear it comfortably at school on Halloween, and fits right in our family Halloween costume!
When I put this Monster costume on my baby, I almost died! Isn’t she the dang cutest little squish?! I wanted to eat her! Surprisingly, she didn’t mind the hat at all! The strap was smooshing her plump cheeks though so I ended up leaving it unattached.
