Graduation Lei Made With Scrunchies
Simple and cheap gift to make for your graduate – a scrunchie graduation lei!!
This is the cutest lei for your girl graduating! Made out of scrunchies and hair claw clips, this graduation lei is such an easy, cheap gift that they will love and be able to use for a long time.
Materials for a Scrunchie Graduation Lei
To make this lei, I went to Walmart and bought a 12 pack of scrunchies for about $10 and a 2 pack of flower hair claws for $3. We already had some ribbon at home, so I didn’t have to buy any of that.
However, if I had had a little more time, I probably would’ve ordered the materials off of Amazon, so I’ll link similar items below. Regardless, all you need to make this fun graduation craft is:
- Colorful pack of scrunchies (at least 12)
- Curling ribbon/string
- Flower claw clips (at least 2)
- Scissors
How to Make a Scrunchie Graduation Lei
Here’s a step by step process on how to make them!
Step 1: First, organize the scrunchies in the order that you want them.
Step 2: Then use pieces of ribbon to tie each of them together, end to end. I recommend doing long ribbon pieces and then using the edge of your scissors to curl them. It just adds some volume and texture.
Step 3: Next, measure how long you want your lei to be. The lei ended up being slightly shorter than we wanted it to be so we added some extra ribbon at the top to add some length and make it not so chunky around the neck.
Step 4: Finally, add your flower claw clips. We decided to add one to each side.
And just like that, you have a colorful and fun lei to give your senior at graduation!!
Our graduating senior LOVED this lei. It added cute colors to her photos and she was so excited about the scrunchies and claw clips that she will be able to use this summer! Definitely a craft worth doing!!
