DESPICABLE ME 2 PARTY FAVORS

The Evil Minions from the movie Despicable Me 2 are the perfect party theme. They have such strong characteristics, and you can have so much fun with them! I’ve loved all the Despicable Me birthday party ideas I’ve seen over the last few years, but wanted to put this out there as well. I found these FREE PRINTABLE treat boxes (there are lots of free Despicable Me printables on this site) and they were BEGGING to have some cotton candy hair!! Now they really do look like the Purple Minions. They’d make a perfect Despicable Me 2 party favor!!

My only wish, is that the purple cotton candy color isn’t more intense. But, I guess that goes with cotton candy, it is pastel no matter what color you’re spinning.

Don’t have a cotton candy machine? This is the one I have and I LOVE IT!!  – Commercial Quality Cotton Candy Machine

Disney Planes Party Favor

Disney Planes Party Favors

The Disney movie Planes and Planes Fire & Rescue are so dang cute. When I got my cotton candy machine I knew the Blue Raspberry would be the perfect clouds for a Planes birthday party favor. When I was at the movie theater with my daughter (who was 3 at the time) to see Planes Fire & Rescue, about 20 minutes in she turned to me and with a puzzled look said, “Mom, there aren’t any princesses in this movie.” I laughed, she was so right, no princesses in that one, but super cute just the same!

You know I am a huge fan of free party printables on the internet. There are several really great websites out there that offer them – SO USE THEM! These Planes Bag Toppers were a free printable from Homeketeers. In fact, they come with a whole package of Planes themed free printables. It’s so easy to just download them and print them.

I paired the pouf of blue cotton candy with a cute little airplane I made using a clothespin and Popsicle stick. I tried to get the paint to mimic Dusty Crophopper. This would also be a really fun party craft if you had kids that were at the age that they could handle painting without making a horrible mess. Just glue the pieces together ahead of time and let them paint them at the party!

To make the clothespin airplane:

– Paint a wood clothespin with white craft paint using a foam brush and allow to dry

– Paint the top surface of the clothespin and the entire Popsicle stick orange and allow to dry

– Paint a turquoise stripe on both sides at the top of the white on either side of the clothespin.

– Using a serrated knife, cut the ends off of the Popsicle stick and glue it to the front of the plane. Use one of the cut off ends to glue upright on the back of the airplane.

Big Hero 6 Birthday Party

This Big Hero 6 Birthday Party was a blast to put together for my nephew! What made it even better was to have it sponsored by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser! This post may contain affiliate links. I am paid a small commission if you purchase through these links.

Big Hero 6 really captured my heart. The movie is funny, sweet, emotional and exciting all packaged up! I loved planning this Big Hero 6 birthday party for my nephew.

 BIG HERO 6 PARTY ACTIVITIES

Knowing I was entertaining six tween boys, I tried to come up with activities they would enjoy. What tween boy doesn’t want to spray paint (responsibly)? And, ironing may not be for the younger kids, but it they were the perfect age to try it out!

DIY BAYMAX T-SHIRTS

Supplies you’ll need:

I followed this fabric applique tutorial I’ve posted about, and just left the last step of ironing on the applique onto the t-shirts for the boys. I got their sizes from their mom’s ahead of time and they turned out really cute!!

GO-GO’S FLYING MAG-LEV DISCS

Supplies you’ll need:

To mimic the magnetic levitation discs Go-Go uses in the movie we spray painted Frisbee’s yellow and once they had dried a little we added a red dot in the center with red craft paint. By the time the movie was over they were dry and the boys went outside and played Frisbee with them. Ironically, some of the boy’s last name is Frisby and they were joking the whole time that the Frisby’s were painting Frisbee’s.

HOT POTATO – BAYMAX STYLE

The plush Baymax was turned in to a Hot Potato for this game. We had the boys sit in a circle and picked a category – like Super Hero’s. They had to toss the Baymax to another player and that person would have to quickly shout a Super Hero and toss it. If they hesitated or repeated one, they were out!

BIG HERO 6 DECORATIONS

The decorations were REALLY fun to make, but if you’re not up for it, there are so many great Big Hero 6 party supplies out there. I especially love the big Baymax mylar balloons! My kids wanted one SO bad the last time we went to Disneyland!

Big Hero 6 Birthday Party - eventstocelebrate.net #BigHero6Release #ad

Baymax Backdrop

I used a red and a white plastic table cover and some spray adhesive to create the big Baymax Backdrop. It was $2 and really made an impact on the party space. I just cut the Baymax head, body and arms out separately and then used my spray adhesive to adhere him to the red table cover.

Big Hero 6 Garlands

I made a garland for each of the supporting characters in the movie. I used my Silhouette cutting machine to cut out the yellow and red discs for Go-Go, Plasma Swords for Wasabi and Fire/Flames for Fred. I added glitter craft paint on all of them to add some dimension and sparkle. Then I painted 1 1/2″ styrofoam balls with craft paint to make Chem Balls for Honey Lemon. I used hot glue to adhere them to embroidery floss and hung them from the food table.

Big Hero 6 Decorations - eventstocelebrate.net #BigHero6Release #ad

Baymax Balloons

This is about as easy as party decorations get. I just used a black marker to draw a Baymax face on the white balloons. I taped them to the archway leading into the party space and put them down the center of the table where the boys ate dinner.

 BIG HERO 6 FOOD

Big Hero 6 Birthday Party - eventstocelebrate.net #BigHero6Release #ad

If you’ve been around my blog, you know how much I love themed party food! It’s probably my favorite thing about parties. I did a different food/treat for each character and created really cute food labels for each one. I’ve even got them as a FREE PRINTABLE for you down at the bottom.

Hiro’s Hero Sandwiches:

Hero Sandwiches from Jimmy Johns – the deliver, which is amazing!

Honey Lemon’s Coconut Chem Balls:

These were really delicious. Just melt 4 TBSP of butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Once it’s melted turn off the heat and add 1/4 c. milk and 1 tsp. of Vanilla extract. Stir it all up and add 2 cups of Confectioners Sugar in 1/2 cup increments stirring each time until smooth (this is where I added the food coloring). Then add in 3 cups of shredded sweetened coconut, mix it to combine and scoop them onto a parchment lined baking sheet and cool. I put mine in the refrigerator to help them set up.

Fred’s Flamin’ Hot Candy:

Hot Tamales, Red Hots & Atomic Fire Balls

Wasabi’s Chocolate Dreds:

Assorted Tootsie Rolls

Baymax Mallow Pops:

The giant marshmallows with some black frosting piped on them for Baymax’s face.

Go-Go Tomago’s Mag-Lev Disc Cookies:

I used a Lemon flavored cake mix and added 2 eggs and 6 TBSP melted butter. I stirred it all together, scooped onto a cookie sheet and baked at 375 for 8-10 minutes. Then I added 1/2 of a maraschino cherry for the red center.

Baymax popcorn:

I used my Silhouette cutting machine to cut out white popcorn boxes and the pieces to make a Baymax face on them – simple and so perfect for watching the movie!

Baymax Drinks:

I purchased white cups and used a black marker to add the face. They were deliciously filled with Black Cherry soda.

Doc McStuffins Party Favors

Doc McStuffins Party Favors - free printables - eventstocelebrate.net

These Doc McStuffins Party Favors combine my love of FREE PRINTABLES and my love of COTTON CANDY! It doesn’t get better than that for me!

My daughter LOVES Doc McStuffins. She was Doc Mcstuffins for Halloween, she gives anyone who will hold still a check up using her Doc Mcstuffins Doctor’s Bag , she was ELATED when she got the Doc McStuffins Walk ‘N Talk Doll for Christmas, she has a Doc McStuffins Bath Towel and this year she wants (you guessed it) a Doc McStuffins Birthday Party!

Doc McStuffins Party Favors - free printables - eventstocelebrate.net

I stumbled on this website not long ago and it was kind of love at first sight for me. Free Printables everywhere I clicked. How could I not use them and share the site with you?

For the EXTRA STUFFY STUFFING and EXTRA LAMBIE STUFFING I just put some cotton candy in a clear treat bag and stapled on the topper. For the DOC MCSTUFFINS COTTON BALLS – I pulled off pieces of cotton candy and rolled them gently between my two hands. Ideally, I would use a light color cotton candy for them, like the pineapple flavor – but I wanted them to show up in the photo.

The bag toppers are actually designed to be water bottle labels, but I just trimmed them to fit as a Doc McStuffins Bag Topper. So, even though my daughters birthday is still months away, I’ve already started planning it and I can bet that you’ll see these favors at her party! Now, head on over and get your own free printables (water bottle labels, kiss stickers, invites and cupcake toppers).    Doc McStuffins Party Favors - free printables - eventstocelebrate.net

Now I just need to figure out how to get better handwriting between now and my daughters party – at least you get the idea…:)

Halloween Crafts and Games for Kids

Halloween Crafts and Games for kids

Each year I host a family Halloween party. Rather than taking on the entire party on my own, I have each sibling/family bring one activity or craft for the kids to do. I take care of the food and decorations and then only have to come up with one activity – knowing that there will be LOTS coming to entertain the kids. This has worked really well! I shared a few of the fun things we’ve done at past parties in this post, and wanted to share those we did at our party last year!

Halloween Crafts and Games for Kids

Halloween Party Activity for Kids - Decorate Cupcakes

Decorating Halloween Cupcakes:

After lunch we let each of the kids pick a cupcake to frost and decorate with lots of candy. We included sprinkles, candy corn, gummy candy and more!

Halloween Party Activity - Tie Dye Shirts - Events To Celebrate

Halloween T-shirt Tie Dye:

Each child brought a plain white t-shirt and we had them tie dye their shirts. We did it outside and everyone wore aprons and gloves to keep things tidy and they loved it. We used a Tie-Dye Kit and it came with all the supplies we needed. After the dye was added, we stuck them in a zip top plastic bag for each kid to take home so they could finish drying. Then, once they were washed, they were ready to wear!

Halloween Treasure Hunt - Events To Celebrate

Halloween Treasure Hunt:

We sent the kids all around the yard on a spooky treasure hunt. There were enough clues for each child to have a turn finding one and at the end they got cute tin buckets (found in the dollar bin at Target) filled with fun Halloween favors: stickers, pencils, spider rings, a straw, glow in the dark skeletons, etc.

Halloween Treasure Hunt - Events To Celebrate 1 Halloween Party Activitiy - Cupcake Walk - Events To Celebrate

Halloween Cupcake Walk:

We actually gave them donuts, but the idea is the same. We had frightful music playing as the kids circled the numbers and when the music stopped a number was pulled from a bag. The child standing next to that number got to come pick a donut.

Halloween Party Activities - Donuts on a String - Events To Celebrate

Doughnuts on a String:

This was my favorite activity to watch, the little kids were hilarious. We suspended glazed donuts from strings and they had a contest to see who could eat their doughnut off the string the fastest. They didn’t have to eat the entire thing, just get it to fall off the string. It was so much fun to watch!

Halloween Party Activity - Bobbing for Apples - Events To Celebrate

Bobbing for Apples:

I was really surprised how much the kids loved this.  They each took several turns! Luckily, since we are all family, we didn’t care about the water getting each others spit in it. πŸ™‚ But they did so well, pulling those little apple stems out of the water – plus, they were apples picked fresh from the orchard so they were totally delicious!

Whether you are planning a family, neighborhood, preschool or church group Halloween party, these activities will entertain the kids for sure!

See this post about all the fun food and DIY Decorations we had at the party!

Army Birthday Party

Army Birthday Party Ideas - Events To Celebrate

My friend Amy always does a fantastic job with themed party and I’m so excited to share one of her latest today. This Army Birthday Party for her son Carter is totally awesome, and she only spent $52.00 (minus the cake) which is a party for a BARGAIN! She got inventive and I love all the details. Let’s take a look at them:

Army Birthday Party Favors:

For the favors she purchased some holiday tins at the dollar store and spray painted them, wrapped them in camo duct tape and scuffed them up a bit. Here’s where you can get some Scotch Duct Tape – Camo.

To fill them she headed to the local recruiting station and asked for any free stickers or things they would let her have. They hooked her up! They gave her stickers, pens and a little football for EACH child’s favor box! Then she went to a specialty supply store called Uncle Sams where she found the REAL army patches and used shotgun shells for $1.00 each!

Army Birthday Party Cake:

Isn’t that cake fantastic? She had our neighbor make it. I’ve just discovered that this neighbor does cakes, and I’m stoked about it! Now my cakes don’t have to look awful at parties I host! This camouflage cake adds the perfect centerpiece.

She wrapped more camouflage duct tape around water bottles.

Army Birthday Party Cake

Army Birthday Party Decorations:

Using various shades of green fabric, she draped some across the ceiling, and more on the table accenting with lots of rope and twine.

She purchased a Camo Pennant Banner to hang from the ceiling as well.

The American Flag was a must to display at the party.

She printed an Army advertisement off the internet and framed it and flanked it with some “medals” she her boys had from participating in various activities.

Army Birthday Party Decor

Army Birthday Party Activities:

Now, this is what I love most about the party! These boys are just too cute and I can just picture how much fun they had with the creative activities she planned for them.

They had a Tug-O-War and other relay races.

Army Birthday Party Activities - Tug-o-war

They played Wounded Soldier and through giggles, dressed each others “wounds” in toilet paper.

They also had a push up contest – hilarious!!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

Meeska, Mooska, Minnie Mouse!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party - eventstocelebrate.net

One of my best friends from high school recently threw this amazing Minnie Mouse Birthday Party for her two year old daughter. The creativity is outstanding and the details are as darling as they get for this little lady’s special day. I love the mix of store purchased elements with the DIY touches – it makes it feel doable, but custom at the same time! Win-win!

Let’s look at the fun details:

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Invitations:

Minnie Mouse Invitation

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it every time. If you’re having a themed party, that theme has got to begin with the invitations. Let your guests get excited for the fun they’ll have with a cute themed invite! These were made with an electronic paper cutter (a Cricut or Silhouette machine) and she added a grossgrain ribbon for a pop of 3D that makes it all Minnie Mouse!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Decorations:

Minnie Mouse Wreath

This wreath is the perfect thing to let your guests know they’ve arrived at the right place. It would also make a darling room decoration after the party!

Minnie Mouse Party Decorations

– Paper pinwheels added a punch of color to the party space – you can find Paper Pinwheels
in a variety of colors and sizes on Amazon.

– Little tables for little guests were covered in a simple Red Plastic Table covers accented with a cardstock cutout of Minnie Mouse.

Minnie Mouse Party Food Display

– Hanging over the food display are red Tissue Paper Pom Poms and black Paper Lanterns that are accented with cardstock ears (one of my favorite details!).

– Three handmade garlands hang below the ceiling treatment including cardstock circles sewn together, “Happy Birthday” cardstock Mickey Mouse silhouettes, and a Minnie Mouse bow garland. So perfect!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Food Display:

One of my favorite elements of a themed party is naming the food and they did such a fantastic job!

– Goofy Grapes
– Minnie’s Carrots
– Toodles Noodles
– Chip’s Chips (from Chip and Dale)
– Donald’s Dip
– Hot Diggity Dogs
– Pluto’s Punch
– Clubhouse Cotton Candy
– Pete’s Pops

What two year old girl wouldn’t be over the moon for this cake?! It’s simply incredible. The Minnie Mouse border on the bottom with those impossibly small bows are my favorite detail!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party Favors:

Minnie Mouse Party Hats

I’m in love with these DIY Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse party hats! Can you imagine the excitement of the kids when they walk in and see these?! The sign above them says “We’ve got ears, say cheers!” just like they do on the show!

I love the decor, food and fun details of this Minnie Mouse themed birthday party, but these next two pictures are my favorite of the entire party. The look on the face of this birthday girl is PRICELESS!

Yum! Who doesn’t love a chocolate fountain at a party?! I’m afraid I’d pull my chair in front of it and not move the rest of the event! πŸ™‚

Jungle Birthday Party Jungle Birthday Party Decorations

Aren’t these so fun and creative?! They took beach balls and glued cupcake liners to them and then added the animal print with spray paint. The string to hang it from is just tied around the nozzle you inflate the ball with. I LOVE them!! If you’d rather make a traditional Tissue Paper Pom Pom, here is some awesome Animal Print Tissue Paper .  If you’re not up for the DIY project – these Animal Print Party Lanterns would be PERFECT!

Jungle Birthday Party Decoration

For a fun and inexpensive table decoration, boxes were wrapped in white paper and then wrapped with lots of fun ribbons, including Animal Print Ribbon, tulle and satin ribbon.

This birthday banner is completely adorable. They used a die cut machine (a Cricut or Silhouette machine) to cut out Animal Print Scrapbook Paper

Kids and adults alike love getting creative with sidewalk chalk! This is especially great if you’re doing it as a family party – the kids can draw while the adults chat!

Jungle Animal Paper Bag puppets were a really fun craft! They used a die cut machine to facillitate this, but you can also purchase kits like this Animal Puppets Paper Bag Craft Kit.
