Nature Party Ideas

The weather has started to warm up a bit and we have loved playing outside! I love walking around my yard to see my tulips peeking up through the dirt. I recently had a really fun day with my kids and 3 of my nieces and all of the things we did would make a really fun Nature Party! If your kids are fans of the new show on PBS – Nature Cat – this would make a really fun Nature Cat Birthday Party!

Nature Party Ideas:

We started the afternoon by taking a picnic lunch to a local duck pond. After eating the girls loved feeding the ducks some bread and then went on a Nature Scavenger Hunt! We found pine cones, feathers and small sticks to use in our Nature Party Crafts!

Nature Party Craft: Rock Birds

I sent the girls out to my garden to find a smooth rock to paint while I set up the supplies.

Here’s what you’ll need (other than rocks):

I instructed the girls to paint their birds any color combination they liked. They painted the front and the back and then we let them dry a little before gluing on the eyes and feathers.

I let the girls pick the feather placement and that ended up being my favorite part of the entire craft! They all did such a cute job making unique birds!

Nature Party Craft: Pine Cone Bird Feeders

Here’s what you’ll need:

After tying a length of yarn around the top of each pine cone, I had them slather them with peanut butter. It’s important to get it up in between the layers so run your knife in both directions when applying the peanut butter. Then we had them roll the pine cone in bird seed and hung them in our tree. One still had a stick of pine needles on it and that was my favorite one! So cute!

Nature Party Craft: Painting Bird Houses

We had the girls all paint one side of a large bird house, but you could purchase each guest a small Bird House and have them paint their own. They really loved this craft and were so good about complimenting each other. After it dried we added some of the pine cones, feathers and twigs we had collected at the park.

That’s all we did for our afternoon, but if you’re looking to turn this into a BIRTHDAY PARTY, here are some additional ideas:

Nature Party Food Ideas

  • These Chex Mix Birds Nests are the perfect treat! The best part about them is that they don’t use those nasty, cardboard tasting chow mein noodles as the base.
  • Dirt and worm cups – chocolate pudding as the base, crushed Oreo cookies layered on top of that with a gummy worm on top.
  • Gummy frogs, worms and butterflies (like I used for this Butterfly party)
  • A trail mix station
  • Serve “Bug Juice” – which can be any juice you like with a cute label

Nature Party Decor Ideas

I’d go with burlap and plaid fabrics and accent with slabs of tree circles, pine cones, pine boughs and twine. These could also work great for a camping themed party.

Nature Party Favors

These bug catchers would be really cute to send home with each guest and they are only about $1.50 each!

I also love the multi colored binoculars! You could pair the two together for a Nature Kit to send home! Or, better yet, have them use them while you are on the Nature Scavenger Hunt during the party!
