Costco Themed Birthday Party

| | | |

Throw an amazing Costco themed birthday party with these ideas for food, decorations, activities, and more!

It’s no secret kids of all ages love Costco, especially toddlers. The giant fans, the people
watching, getting to be in charge of the receipt, the samples… it’s an adventure every
time! And even better, sometimes (ok, most times, it’s just so convenient) you even get
some pizza and a soda at the café. What. A. Dream.

In addition to being top notch toddler entertainment and filling your pantry with bulk price
snacks and essentials, Costco also makes a GREAT and easy party theme! A walk
through Costco to pick your favorites and the menu is set. Simple, on theme, and
perfect! It’s also a great time to let your toddler have some control and help pick things
out, too.

So if you have a Costco-loving kiddo (or maybe it’s your party!?) and are looking for
some on-theme ideas, I’d love to share:

  • Invitations
  • Red “Sample” Trays
  • Tasting Spoons
  • Sample Cups
  • Hair Nets
  • Costco Name Tags
  • Name Tag Sleeves & Clips
  • Price is Right – Costco Edition (appeals more to parents/grands, etc)
  • Employee of the Month (fill with 4×6 photos for a cost effective option)
  • Photo Props (print and tape on jumbo popsicle sticks)
  • LOTS of food – all from Costco of course!

Note: I have prepared a customizable party template with all the printables I used for this party and shared it on Etsy! While you are in no way required or expected to purchase that bundle, I just wanted to let you know that it is available! Click here to view the Costco Party Bundle.

Costco Party Invitations, Name Tags, and Posters

Note: Black borders have been added to the designs below to enhance their visibility against the white background of the website. These are not on the original design.

Invitations: Nothing on this actually says Costco but send it out and everyone will
undoubtedly understand the theme! Customize with your kiddos name from this
template. (Full discloser: This can take a minute, give yourself some time.)

Costco Name Tags: As I needed to create and print these, everyone was an Associate and had all been hired the year the birthday kiddo was born. Have a name tag station as soon as guests walk in and let them fill in their name/nickname. All ages LOVED these and even the youngest guests kept them on all night and asked to take them home.

Employee of the Month Posters: Customize this for your birthday kiddo, it’s so fun to
see how they’ve grown through the year! This will fit a 4×6 photo each with space
around the edge and is significantly less expensive than 5x7s.
Photo Props: Use your favorite snacks! Print on cardstock, cut out, and tape to
popsicle sticks. I printed these and we created a photo spot using this red tinsel backdrop from
Amazon.

Costco Themed Party Decorations

Sample Trays: I found some locally on KSL for a really good deal and saw some on
Facebook Marketplace too, but otherwise Amazon has Carlisle serving trays in a varaiety of colors for super cheap. I feel like these are the mark of Costco.

Tasting Spoons: Kids love sample spoons, so while we could have gotten away
without these, I knew they were a must. These biodegradable wooden spoons are a good option!

Sample Cups: These are actually portion cups from Amazon! (There are similar ones at Walmart too!) I used two sizes. This allowed me to purchase a smaller quantity but still have a larger cup to use.

Hair Nets: Ok, hear me out. This is such a fun group photo op and you’ll be surprised how cooperative all ages are to wear them! Here is a link for white hair nets that are perfect for the party!

Name Tags & Sleeves: The name tags featured earlier in the post are sized to fit plastic sleeves that are 3 3/8 inches by 2 1/4 inches. Depending on how many sleeves you need, there are packs of 50 on Amazon or 12 at Walmart. Also, make sure to get badge clips to go along with them!

The Price is Right Game – Costco Edition

You can access a game template here or make your own!

To play this game, we used our favorite snacks/pantry staples. Adults filled the template out while kiddos played with red/blue balloons downstairs. After everyone had filled out their pages, we looked over them to see who got the closest answers.

And of course, the winner got a Costco prize. You could make the prizes anything, but a few suggestions include: A box of fruit snacks, a Costco pullover, a pack of batteries… the choices within Costco really are endless!

Costco Party Food Ideas

Let’s talk food! Choosing all your family favorites is a good way to ensure your
kiddo still eats enough to keep them from getting hangry at their own party. I’ll share
what we served to get you going.

Décor-Turned-Snacks

To further incorporate the food theme at the party, we used food items as centerpieces on the table. Is it the most glamorous decor? No. But does it fit Costco? It sure does!!

  • Orange Cups
  • Granola Bars
  • Welch’s Fruit Snacks

Main Meal

You can mix and match this list to fit the needs and guest list of your party, but here are our Costco go-to’s!

  • Pizza (tip: order ahead!)
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Cutie Oranges
  • Veggie Tray
  • Croissants
  • Sandwich Meat
  • Assorted Cheese
  • Condiment Packs
  • Cheese
  • Muffins
  • Hot Dogs & Buns (the same as sold in the café!)

For drinks we had a couple different options. We offered bottled drinks including Ice, Izze, and bottled water.

Now, for dessert. I chose to serve chocolate pie instead of cake at this party. (pro tip: make sure this has time to thaw before serving!) But regardless of whether you serve cake or pie at your party, I recommend serving it in sample cups with little spoons. This helps you serve up portions that little kids will actually eat. And of course the adults can always go back for more!

Since I didn’t serve cake at the party, we just used a number candle in one of the sample cups and sang the “Happy Birthday” song. My little one loved it!

These are all the foods we served at our Costco themed party, but the good news is, there are so many more options! A Costco party is very low difficulty yet still incredibly distinguishable to kids and adults. Almost like…the real Costco? You can’t get much better than that! Enjoy!

How to Access my Costco Party Printables

I left a note at the beginning of the article, but just in case you missed it, here it is again!

I have prepared a customizable party template with all the printables I used for this party and shared it on Etsy! While you are in no way required or expected to purchase that bundle, I just wanted to let you know that it is available! Click here to view the Costco Party Bundle. – Savannah

Because of the number of printables I made for this party, I am not offering it for free. However, I’ve still tried to make it really affordable! As a young momma, I totally get the feeling of wanting to throw a party for your child but also do it within a budget.

If you do not want to buy the bundle, that is perfectly ok. You are welcome to use my designs as inspiration, but I ask that you not copy any of them directly. I’ve worked very hard to create them, and I would hate for someone to dishonestly monetize my creations!

That being said, I am super excited to see what you come up with. If you do a Costco themed party, share pictures and experiences in the comments!!
