Holiday Pie Buffet

Entertaining for the holidays is one of my favorite things (along with rain drops on roses and red woolen mittens)! Being sponsored by Collective Bias, Inc. and it’s advertiser to create this holiday pie buffet sweetens the whole thing considerably!

Every month or so, the women in my neighborhood get together for a girls night. As the holidays approach, it seems like the Mom of the family experiences an increase in stress and a decrease in free time. I decided to host a relaxing pie night for these superwomen to kick-off the holidays. It was such a fun night and so great to visit with the 11 that were able to make it before holiday parties, Christmas shopping and to-do lists take over the month.

Let me show you some of the simple details that pulled this party together:

Easy Holiday Decorations

Holiday Pie Buffet -

I started with a crisp white table cloth and layered a burlap table runner down the center.

I purchased a fresh pine bough (the scent is amazing!) from Costco and used it throughout the party. It ran along the center of the food table, created the centerpiece, accented the pie plates and the utensils and food jars.

The pie plates are wooden dessert trays and they added a great accent to the table.

Around the jars of chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and the cranberry sparkle I wrapped a length of red paper napkin, burlap, jute twine and a sprig of the pine bough.

For the centerpiece I created a cute pie shaped pennant banner to bring the holidays and the pie theme together. You can print your own Piece On Earth banner here: Piece On Earth Pie Banner

One trick to making it is to add a dot of hot glue to the back of each pennant to help give a little weight to it so it hangs vertically a little better.

I tied a napkin and fork together with a bit of jute twine and then added a fresh sprig of pine to bring it all together. Super simple, but super cute!

With the apple and cherry pie I made delicious salted caramel sauce and a quick fudge sauce (grab the recipes below) for drizzling and included some whipped topping to finish it all.

Caramel Apple Pie -

Black Forest Cherry Pie -

To carry on the holiday theme I offered guests a Cranberry Sparkle punch – it is just cranberry juice and Sprite soda. I added fresh cranberries to bamboo skewers for drink stirrers. While I was assembling them my daughter and I decided to taste a fresh cranberry. Holy cow, totally not what I was expecting them to taste like! It was hilarious to see my daughters sour face – those things are TART!

Salted Caramel Sauce Recipe

Easy Caramel Sauce Recipe -

1 1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Water
3/4 cup Cream
5 Tbsp Butter, cut into pieces
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Sea Salt

Add sugar and water to a medium saucepan; cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until sugar dissolves and begins to boil gently. Continue to cook until syrup turns a deep Amber color, swirling pan every 30 seconds instead of stirring (about 6 minutes). Whisk the mixture as you very slowly pour in the cream. Add butter; continue to whisk until smooth. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla and sea salt. Allow to cool slightly and pour into a jar.

Fudge Sauce Recipe 

Chocolate Fudge Sauce Recipe -

2 c sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter cubed (1 stick)
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
Add sugar, cocoa and butter to a medium sauce pan. Heat on medium-low, stirring until butter is melted and sugar begins to melt. Mixture will be very thick. Slowly stir in the evaporated milk. Continue to cook 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously. Allow to cool slightly and pour into a jar. Serve warm.
Black Forest Cherry Pie with homemade Fudge Sauce -
**These sauces are both great to make ahead – even a few days in advance! They can be refrigerated and stay soft and smooth even when cold! Additionally, pie can be served warm out of the oven, at room temperature or even cold – so no matter what else is going on that day, it’s the perfect dessert to serve at your holiday gathering.
