Why I Made This St. Patrick’s Day Wreath
I love decorating for the holidays, but I don’t want to spend a fortune on something that will only be up for a few weeks. Plus, in my extremely sunny climate, the sun fades outdoor décor pretty quickly. This morning, after leaving the barn, and for no particular reason, I got a wild hair and decided to make something fun for St. Patrick’s Day. This wreath was the first thing on my list! Stay tuned for some other really fun ideas in future posts!
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Scissors
- Bowdabra (for gorgeous bow making)
- Cute wire-edged ribbon
- Grapevine wreath
- Two St. Patrick’s Day floral picks
- Foam self-sticking clovers

I purchased everything I didn’t already have, at Hobby Lobby and had plenty of ribbon and foam stickers left over for future projects.
How to Make Your Own St. Patrick’s Day Wreath
- Set Up Your Workspace – I took everything outside because grapevine wreaths can be a bit messy.
- Make the Bow First – I used my Bowdabra to create a big, fluffy, extravagant bow. If you’ve never heard of a Bowdabra, I highly recommend it! I’ve had mine for over 20 years, and it makes bow-making a breeze.
- Wrap the Ribbon – I like a rustic look, so I left plenty of the grapevine showing. I simply tucked the ribbon into the wreath to secure it, wrapped it around, and tucked the other end into the same spot. No hot glue needed! I’ve never had my ribbon come undone, but if you’re worried about it, you can always add a little glue.
- Attach the Bow – I tied my beautiful St. Patrick’s Day bow onto the wreath securely.
- Add Floral Picks and Decorations – I tucked in the floral picks and stuck on a few of the glittery foam stickers. That’s it!
How to Make Fabulous Bows

The Bowdabra is a fantastic tool for anyone who loves crafting, especially when it comes to making professional-looking bows with ease. Designed to help both beginners and experienced crafters, the Bowdabra holds ribbon securely in place while you shape and layer it, creating perfectly balanced, fluffy bows every time. Whether you’re working with wired ribbon, fabric strips, or even tulle, this tool simplifies the process and ensures consistent results. I’ve had mine for over 20 years, and it’s still my go-to for making bows of all sizes, from small gift toppers to extravagant wreath bows. If you love DIY décor, the Bowdabra is a must-have!

Ways to Customize Your St. Patrick’s Day Wreath
To customize your wreath even further, consider adding unique elements that reflect your personal style. You could weave in a strand of fairy lights for a magical evening glow or incorporate a small wooden sign with a festive greeting like “Luck o’ the Irish!” or “Welcome!” If you prefer a fuller look, layer in more floral picks with varying shades of green or gold for extra dimension. For a playful touch, attach a tiny leprechaun hat, a rainbow embellishment, or even a pot of gold! You can also swap out traditional ribbon for burlap or plaid to match different décor styles. The best part is that these customizations are all easily changeable, so you can tweak the wreath year after year without having to start from scratch!

The Final Touch
This wreath came together so easily, and it looks amazing on my front door! I love that I can reuse the grapevine wreath for other holidays by simply switching out the decorations. My family is going to love it, and I hope it brings a smile to the faces of our visitors, too!
If you make one, I’d love to hear about it! Happy crafting and happy St. Patrick’s Day!
