If you’re new here, HI! I am Natalie :)) I am a 23 year old girl who recently got married and is having the TIME OF HER LIFE watching her best friends plan and prep for their own weddings!! I mean c’mon. Seeing your favorite people fall in love and plan the best day of their life…how could you not absolutely love that?!
With summer on the way, you already know that my calendar is stacked with weddings and parties to attend. This was literally my 3rd bach party in 2 weeks, so you know it’s busy!
Since I am in the stage of life where weddings are a big focus, I have taken it upon myself to do everything I can to make wedding and party planning as simple as possible! (see the weddings tab to checkout all of my planning tips and resources!)
One of my longtime friends is getting married this summer and just had her bachelorette party. I wasn’t the one who planned it, but I got to participate and it was SO FUN! They did a “Tie the Knot” garden bachelorette party theme and had some amazing tea-party inspired activities. I loved the idea so much that I asked the bride-to-be if I could share it and she said YES!
So, I am going to use this article today to highlight the things I loved from my friend’s bachelorette party, offer some tips and ideas, and help you plan the best garden-themed bach party ever!
As you can see from the photo here, the dress code was flowy tea party dresses. SO CUTE!
Garden Bachelorette Party Decorations
One of my biggest recommendations for themed party decorating is to add a visual focal point! The focal point doesn’t have to be expensive or over the top. It just has to draw attention to the theme, which in this case was a garden theme.
In order to best capture the bachelorette party theme, there was beautiful tea party table with decorative china, lace, bows, candles, and fresh flowers.
In case you like any of the items that were used for this party, I’ll add links below to help you recreate this look! For ones I couldn’t find, i’ve included a similar option.
- Gold charger plates
- Fine china plates (her mom’s collection)
- Pink ribbon for the trees and glasses
- Pink checkered table cloth
- Clear flower vases
- Glass/plastic champagne flutes
- Candle stick holders
- Decorative pink candlesticks
Additionally, there were printed name cards placed in each of the glasses. These served as a seating arrangement. I thought these were a nice touch that made everything feel a little more formal.
And on top of that, there were fresh flowers for centerpieces across the long table. While not necessary, fresh flowers can definitely contribute to the garden theme, add a pop of color, and bring a sweet scent!
Another decorating option: Another way to decorate for a tea party-themed bachelorette party is to do it picnic style with all the girls sitting on blankets and pillows in the grass. I’ve seen it done before and it turns out super cute!
Bachelorette Party Food Ideas
Food is an incredibly easy way to make guests happy and theme your party! The food arrangement for this garden bachelorette party theme included a variety of sandwiches, fruit, and sweets! The menu was simple, but that fit the group size really well.
A common party planning question is, “How much food should I order/provide for party?” A general rule of thumb for this is to have about 1 lb of food per person (not counting dessert). As for sweets, you generally want to have about 1.5 desserts per guest.
Our Menu:
- Ham and Cheese Croissant Sandwiches (with condiments)
- Cheese and Crackers Platter
- Fresh Fruit
- Cookies
- Mini Donuts
- Strawberry Lemonade
Other Fun Ideas:
- Tea cakes
- Petit fours
- Macaroons
- Scones with Jam
- Tea Sandwiches
- Lox Bagels
The nice thing about menu planning for a party is that the possibilities are endless. You can mix and match to your delight. However, I do have a few food tips for you.
Food tips:
- Be considerate of food allergies or diets – Having alternatives that are vegetarian, gluten free, etc. can make the meal more inclusive for a wider audience.
- Finger foods are GREAT for parties – Because people are moving around at parties, finger foods are a great option. For a garden party, you could choose a more formal meal or stick with small appetizers and bites.
- Variety – You know what they say. Variety is the spice of life! When it comes to planning food for a gathering, consider having at least 3 different food options.
And while we didn’t use any name labels at this party, make sure to check out my list of 50 foods to serve at a bachelorette party along with themed names!!
Fun Activities Before the Bride “Ties the Knot”
When it comes to throwing a Garden-themed bachelorette party, you want to plan group activities that are delicate, whimsical, and frilly! The kind of activities that really bring out the girly girl in each guest!
For example, we did cake decorating! Each girl got her own cake and was able to share colored frostings to design a beautiful cake. This allowed for girl-talk during the activity, individual creativity, and lots of fun! Note: If you choose to do this, it is much more cost-effective to use whipped cream frosting than buttercream. This kind of frosting is also much easier to pipe with a piping bag. Even novel cake decorators can do it!
However, don’t worry if cake decorating isn’t your thing. Here is a whole list of activities you could do for a garden or tea party inspired bachelorette party!
Themed Bachelorette Party Activities
Cake Decorating | We did this together and all the girls really enjoyed it! Everyone pulled up their sleeves, tied back their hair, and got to work adding colorful swirls and flowers to make cake masterpieces. This kind of activity does require a decent amount of preparation beforehand, but definitely worth it! |
Bouquet Making | Girls love flowers! What better way to embrace the garden theme, then by allowing each girl to make their own bouquet to take home. To make this activity happen, simply pick up a variety of fresh florals, kraft paper, and string. Then, let the girls go to town making their own sweet-smelling bundle. |
Charm Necklace/Bracelet Making | Just like the flowers dotting the garden, charm necklaces and bracelets have a dainty glamour that will go great with the party. For this activity, you could go to a charm shop or even get the supplies to make them there in the backyard. |
Candle Painting/Making | Candles are another way girls love to romanticize their life, so they are a great option for a garden bachelorette party. You could either have the guests make their own scented candle (maybe even add flower petals in!) or use paint brushes and colored candle wax to “paint” on the outside of candles. |
Ceramics Painting | Go to a local shop and have each of your friends pick out a plate or tea cup to paint. This way, you can all design your very own tea party china. This is definitely a more expensive option, but it works great for small groups. Also, ceramics take time since they need to go through the kiln. Someone may have to pick up the bride’s artwork for her! |
Getting Permanent Jewelry | A popular thing right now is getting permanent pieces of jewelry put on. Usually they are delicate necklaces, bracelets, or anklets. Maybe the group gets a matching piece? Or maybe you all get something different to represent your style! |
What other tea party activities can you think of? Leave them in the comments!
Themed Bachelorette Party Favors
Fun fact: one of the best ways to create a rich, memorable experience for attendees of an event is to give them something to take home!
With that in mind, I’ve come up with some simple, inexpensive party favors you could send friends home with. I tried to include a wide variety of price ranges, so that you could find something that would fit your needs!
- Ribbon Hair Bow
- Charm Necklace/bracelet
- Silky Gloves
- Lipgloss
- Scented Hand Sanitizer/Lotion
- Mini Candle
- Mug with a Variety of Teas
- Flower or Bow Shaped Cookies
Hopefully, this post helped you find something you like! Best of luck planning your themed bachelorette party!!
