This dip is the perfect bite thanks to the salty bacon, the kick from the onions and horseradish & the creamy melted cheese all spread over crispy bread. MMMM my mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

Making Bacon Cream Cheese Bread Dip

Truthfully, I think this is one of the easier appetizers you can make for a party. It is ready within 30 minutes and really just has 2 components to prep: the bread and the dip!

Making the Dip:

  • Gather all of your ingredients.
  • Cook your bacon – either in the oven on high (400 degrees) or in the microwave for 4-5 minutes.
  • Once the bacon cools, cut it into small bits and pieces.
  • Chop up your green onion into 1/4 inch bits.
  • Combine all ingredients and mix well using a rubber spatula.
  • Transfer to a shallow baking dish (about 9 x 9) and bake at 400 for 15 minutes.

Prepping the Bread Crostinis:

  • While the bread dip bakes, cut 2 loves of artisan bread into 1/2 inch slices.
  • Brush each slice of bread with a small amount of olive oil/butter and then broil in the oven for 3-6 minutes on a baking sheet until toasted.
  • Serve the bread dip and bread crostinis warm.

Tips for this Recipe

As someone who is trying new recipes all the time, I totally get that it can be intimidating to make something the first time around. Here are some things I have learned from making this recipe for the holidays the last few years:

  • Spreadable cream cheese – Give the cream cheese enough time to thaw/come to room temp. Doing so will make it much easier to incorporate with the other ingredients!
  • Cooking the bacon – If you cook your bacon in the microwave, use gloves to remove it. The plate can get VERY hot. Also, throw a few paper towels down on the plate before adding the bacon. This will help soak up the grease as it cooks and make the plate easier to clean.
  • Shredded vs. sliced cheese – While I am sure that sliced cheese could work for this recipe, it is not ideal. Try to freshly grate the cheese if possible, as this produces the best results.

    1. I’ve never tried making it in a crockpot. However, I often mix everything up in the morning and then bake just before serving. It gets eaten so fast that it doesn’t have time to get cold. 🙂

  1. Since I am very short of time on the morning of my brunch, could I make the night before? This way I could just pop it in at the last minute.
