Jump to InstructionsI am a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to give a heartfelt, meaningful gift! In fact, my husband and I have agreed that we much prefer to focus on creating memories together over having nice things. However, we still like to find inexpensive gifts to give each other, and I think this Valentine’s Day candy poster is the perfect gift for anyone who
- has a significant other with a sweet tooth
- is ballin’ on a budget
- wants to homemake a gift
- loves getting creative
- or
- wants to shift away from big material gifts!
So, if you fall into any of those categories, this is the V-day gift for you!! Come along as I will show you the message I used to create my candy poster, provide a plethora of phrases that could be used to customize your poster, and tell you step-by-step how to put it all together!

Valentine’s Day Candy Poster Message
One thing that I really love about this Valentine’s day craft is the fact that it is totally customizable. You can really formulate it to uniquely fit a specific message you want to share or to include your lover’s favorite candies.
Here is the message that I decided on for my Valentine’s day candy poster:
“Dear SWEETHEART,
I hope Valentines’s day is EXTRA special. Out of all the FISH in the sea, I’m over-JOY-ed to have you. To me, you’re worth more than 100 GRAND, and we were MINT to be together. Your KISSES give me BUTTERFINGER – flies. I love you to PIECES.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!”
However, if you don’t love a part of that message, you can always swap it out for one of these other lines.
- I want to say, that I love you (GUMMY) BEAR-y much.
- You’re my favorite NERD.
- Together we have MOUNDS of fun.
- You’re my favorite thing in this MILKY WAY.
- You’re a BIG LEAGUE/HUBBA BUBBA.
- You’re a big SMARTIE and X-TREMELY fun to be around.
- You’re a real HOT TAMALE.
- You can be an AIRHEAD, but you still ROCK CANDY my world.
- Gee WHOPPERS, I can’t believe you’re mine.
- We have GOOD & PLENTY memories together.
- Your jokes always make me SNICKERS.
- You’re a real LIFE SAVER.
- My heart could STARBURST.
- Glad we got past the first ICE BREAKER.
- Life with you POP ROCKS.
- You’re a real LAFFY TAFFY.
- Through life’s SOUR PATCHES, TWIX, and turns, I always want my BABY RUTH.
This way, you can customize your Valentine’s Day candy poster to best fit your special someone’s candy preferences!!
Materials For this Valentine’s Day Candy Poster
Not only is this Valentine’s Day candy poster really cute and customizable. It is also relatively easy to put together! AND all the materials can be found at your local Walmart, Target, Walgreens or craft store. Here’s what you’ll need:
Poster Items:
- 1 poster – While you could really use any poster color, I am going to recommend white. It just makes things easiest, since it is a blank canvas. You can use pretty much any marker color on it and it will show up really well.
- 1 pencil and eraser – These can help you space out your wording and candy on the poster before using ink.
- 1 marker/sharpie – Red or pink can add a nice “Valentine’s Day” flare, but really any marker will help trace over the wording and make it more visible.
- 1 hot glue gun – If you don’t have a glue gun, you could also try tape, a stapler, or other sticky adhesives. However, hot glue seems to be the best way to hold up the weight of the different candies.
Candy Items:
- 1 box Sweetarts
- 1 pack Extra gum
- 1 box Swedish Fish
- 1 bar Almond Joy
- 1 bar 100 Grand
- 1 box Junior Mints
- 1 bar Butterfinger
- 1 pack Hershey’s Kisses
- 1 pack Reese’s Pieces
V-day Candy Poster Assembly
Start by finding the non-glossy side of the poster board. This side will be a little easier to write on. It is also easier to erase if you make a mistake or need to adjust your spacing.
Then, start by writing out your message in pencil. Try to use clean handwriting and make sure to set the candies down where you plan to attach them. That way you can make sure to leave enough room for them.
When the writing is finished, go over it in your favorite highlighter or marker.
After outlining the words, use a hot glue gun to attach the candies to the poster in their designated spots! Let the glue dry, and then you’re done!
