Plan the best event with these “A Lifetime of Butterflies” bachelorette party ideas! Tips, decor, food, activities, and so much more!

YOU GUYS!! My little sister is getting married this week, and so I just threw her a bachelorette party!! The theme was “A Life Time of Butterflies”, and boy did it deliver on all the whimsical, magical vibes! Honestly, its the perfect theme for someone who wants a more tame atmosphere, loves pastels, or wants to lean into that girly, romanticized feeling!

I’ve been to a ton of bachelorette parties in the past, but this was my first time actually hosting one. As someone who is newer to this type of party, I definitely went for a more lowkey approach. However, I still tried to heavily incorporate the colors and theme into all the party aspects, so come along as I show you what I came up with!!

Tips for Planning a Bachelorette Party

  • Set a Theme – One of the best pieces of advice I can give for event planning is to select a theme! The theme doesn’t have to be anything crazy. It could be a color palette or a phrase, but just having a theme makes the event feel more thought out and cohesive.
  • Decide on a Budget – When planning a bachelorette party, you want to establish a budget and stick to it! Having a budget will help you allocate resources accordingly. It can also be useful in helping you think of all the party elements in a “big picture way”, because it forces you to consider how everything will fit together. (Just for reference, I got everything for this party for about $100!)
  • Divide and Conquer – Sometimes it can feel like a lot to manage all the aspects of throwing a bachelorette party. There’s a decent amount of planning, preparation, and coordination. If possible, delegate responsibilities to others who are willing to help. Possible jobs could be coming up with themed foods, sending out invites, ordering items, helping set up on the day of, and clean up after the shower.
  • Simplify Where Possible – I feel like we live in a time where everyone feels like they have to spend lots of money and throw extravagent parties to keep up with appearances. However, sometimes less is more. A few food items and decor pieces can be enough to make a party feel themed and intentional. Try to borrow from others, purchase items on a discount, or buy items you will reuse.

“A Lifetime of Butterflies” Invite

To kick off the bachelorette party ideas, I figured we would start with the beginning: the invite.

In order to make the invite for this party, I used Canva to design an invite filled with butterflies, florals and lacy cursive lettering! If you want to access it, simple click the link below!

Butterfly Themed Bach Party Decor

When decorating for a party, my biggest rule and piece of advice is to have a large visual focal point that matches your chosen theme! Doing so can help make the theme clear and reduce the amount of decor you need to make the rest of the space feel themed.

Below is an image of the “A Lifetime of Butterflies” photo wall that made a debut at the bachelorette party! It was sparkly, pastel, and butterfly packed. Perfect for the celebration.

Food-Related Bachelorette Party Ideas

Every good party needs snacks. It’s just a fact of life!! However, you can definitely tailor the volume and type of food you provide to fit your guest list and theme! In this case, we had a pretty small group (10 or less) getting together. I wanted there to be options, but not too much excess. As a result, I decided on just a few snack options for this party.

When coming up with a menu, consider:

  • Party timing – Is it a meal time when people will be really hungry or do I just need snacks?
  • The # of people to feed – You never want guests going home hungry!
  • Avoiding strong flavors – Spicy, stinky, slimy, etc. These can be a turn off for people.
  • Sit down meal vs. Finger foods – Unless you are having a formal meal, opt for foods that are easier to eat. Finger foods are always a great option!
  • Allergies & Food Preferences – Think of those who might have gluten, dairy, or other intolerances. Also specialty diets or food restrictions (vegetarian/vegan). You don’t have to base the whole menu around this, but at least provide options or alternatives.

“A Lifetime of Butterflies” Themed Party Foods

Butterfly Fruit Tray

To make this appetizer, simply wash and cut all your fruit, and then arrange it on a platter. You can use any blend of fruits that makes you happy. I would just encourage that you use a range of colors, make it symmetrical on both sides, and wait until it is close to the party to make this. If you want to keep any fruits from browning, consider lightly coating them with lemon juice. (think apples, bananas, etc.)

Shaped Butterfly Sugar Cookies

All you need for this is sugar cookie dough, a butterfly cookie cutter, and frosting! Literally sooo easy!! Just prep your sugar cookie dough and roll it out into an even layer. Then, use the cookie cutter to cut out shaped butterfly cookies. Bake them, let them cool, and then decorate. You could try adding edible butterfly paper, sprinkles, edible flowers, colored frosting, and more!!

Marshmallow Butterflies

This one is so easy, and SO CUTE! Simply take a jumbo marshmallow and cut it in half. Take each half and lay it flat. Then cut tiny long snips at the top to create 2 antennas. Cut a tiny triangle from each side to create the look of wings. Repeat this on the other half of the marshmallow. Then make as many as you would like! m

Fluttering Cheese and Crackers

Sadly, I couldn’t find and butterfly shaped crackers. However, I did have a mini butterfly cookie cutter, and I used that to cut my cheese slices. To prep, I simply cut out the cheese butterflies and then refrigerated them until we were ready for food! Depending on your party size, you could offer a wide variety of cheeses and crackers. Since we have a smaller group, I opted for 2 cheese types.

And while I didn’t include these in my party, I have seen lots of other amazing ideas for butterfly shaped sandwiches, fruits and veggies, or even kabobs with dip. With florals, butterflies, and pastels as the guide, you really can’t go wrong!!

Bachelorette Party Games and Activities

I love this theme, because there are all kinds of options for tailoring the activities to fit your group and interests! Here are a few activities and game that I think could be real winners with your bachelorette group!!
