DIY Grinch Ornaments, Crafts and Decor

| | | | |

These Grinch decorations, ornaments, and crafts are sure to help you love Christmas as much as the town of Whoville!

One of the most well-known and beloved Christmas characters is the Grinch who stole Christmas. Though he starts as quite the mischievous grump, he becomes a great friend to those around him. Cindy Lou Who helps change his heart as he sees the true meaning behind Christmas.

I think that is why we all love him so much. The Grinch is a reminder that any and all of us can be softened by a little bit of kindness.

So it is no wonder that he has become the inspiration for a number of holiday things such as decorations, crafts, and ornaments. In this post, I will share with you the best Grinch ideas I have found yet!

And if you’re looking to throw a Grinch party, check out our post here! It has even more ideas for party decorations, games, and food!

1.Glittery Grinch “Face” Ornaments

The Grinch is known for being “cuddly as a cactus” and “charming as an eel”, but he is also known for his transformation into a kind-hearted and lovable guy.

This holiday ornament brings all the warmth of the transformed Grinch.

Shimmery and bright, these Grinch ornaments are filled with glitter from the inside. That way you get a twinkly look but without the mess!

So while you are busy prepping for the holidays, baking, and shopping, your little ones can have a little fun.

3. Paper Plate Yarn Heart Craft

4. Grinch Wreath

The Grinch might not be big into decorating for Christmas, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be!

With some fun ornaments and a bright green feather boa, you can create your very own Grinch door decor. A wreath like that is bound to attract some carolers!

5. Growing Heart Ornament

Every year my family would add at least one new ornament to our tree. Either someone would give us one or us kids would design something new to hang on the tree. When is the last time you added a new ornament to your tree?

This growing heart ornament is a fun and easy craft to make that will look great on your tree! And more than that, it is a reminder that kindness and joy are what the holiday season is all about! Even the nastiest Scrooge or meanest Grinch can become a friend.

6. Pipe Cleaner Christmas Trees

These pipe cleaner Christmas trees are the perfect craft for toddlers and young kids. The mini trees are imperfect bundles of green pipe cleaner that are age-appropriate artwork for your little elf.

And since this project doesn’t take too long, you don’t have to worry about your little one turning into a Grinch. You get all the fun and entertainment without the mess and fuss!

7. Grinch Character Silhouettes

For those who are truly committed to turning their home into a Wholville winter wonderland, these character silhouettes are a subtle but amazing touch.

With cutouts for Cindy Lou Who, Max the dog, the Grinch’s tree, and more, there are all kinds of ways to “Grinch-ify” your house!

8. Homemade Grinch Bath Salt

“Stink! Stank! Stunk!”

The Grinch might smell, but you don’t have to! This bath salt is the perfect thing to make your holidays cozy and warm. Whether you make it for yourself or to give away, this is a fun project that your kids can help with!

9. Spoon Grinch Christmas Ornament

“You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch!”

Create your very own rotten, fowl, and vile spoon Grinch ornament with some paper, cotton balls, and a Sharpie! Before his conversion to Christmas, the Grinch was a pretty nasty guy and this ornament is a perfect way to showcase that!

10. Grinch Holding Ornament Christmas Countdown

Every kid lives for the countdown to Christmas. Why not do it Grinch style?! This free printable shows the Grinch’s hand outstretched holding an ornament that you can fill in with the number of days left before Christmas.

This countdown is a great way to help your kids look forward to the holidays while also enjoying a familiar Christmas symbol!

11. Grinch Headband

As Dr. Seuss once said, “Welcome Christmas. Bring your cheer, Cheer to all Whos, far and near.”

This Grinch looks like he’s ready for some Christmas cheer, cuddles, and hugs. For presents, and singing, and cute cocoa mugs!

With a free printable, this grinch headband is easy and fun. For a holiday craft, this is the one.

12. Heart Ornament

“Well, in Whoville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day.”

Once the Grinch let a little love into his heart, he was able to appreciate the Who’s and their Christmas celebrations. By making crafts like this growing heart, we too can remember to love Christmas!

13. Paper Plate Grinch

Because this craft is made out of household items, it is the perfect activity for a lazy afternoon. All you need is a paper plate, paper, cotton balls, paint, and some glue!

Now that’s what I call an easy, festive holiday craft!

14. Grinch Painted Rocks

As the Grinch himself said, “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”

Rather than purchase a gift this year, why not have your little kids make a painted rock to give to their school teacher or classmate?! It will be unique and from the heart.

15. Mini Felt Grinch Tree

Some people have one tree and others have more, but this tree is tall with red hearts galore.

Made from felt, it is a soft kind of tree. So make one, two, four, or three!

16. Grow the Grinch’s Heart Science Experiment

The turning point in the Grinch’s story is when his little heart grows and grows until it is 3 times its original size. This post is a simple science experiment to represent that amazing pheneomenon.

So for all the scientists out there, this is an exciting way to teach your kids!

17. Grinch Playdough

Much like the slime I mentioned earlier (and the Who’s), this play dough is something that keeps on giving. Making it can be one activity and playing with it can be a second!

Since playdough is a fun toy for kids of all ages, this is a great one to consider if you have toddlers or even a range of kid ages.

18. Grinch Garland

Now I know you’re not worried about having decorations as nice as your neighbors *wink*, but if you did care, this Grinch garland would be a fantastic way to step up your Christmas decorating game.

Though it looks super fancy, the step-by-step tutorial included makes it a simple way to elevate your Christmas decorations. The red and green bring a festive energy that will look SO good on your porch!

19. Popsicle Grinch Craft

“I know just what to do!” The Grinch laughed in his throat. “I’ll make a quick Santy Claus hat and a coat.”

Dress the Grinch up as Santa Claus with some popsicle sticks, paint, and paper. He may be sneaky and conniving, but at least he looks good in red!
