Monsters University Party
This weekend we had a really fun Monsters University party! We LOVE disney movies and when Monsters University came out on DVD last Tuesday and we planned a fun party themed around it for my daughter and 3 of my nieces. I’ve gushed about how much I love my nieces before, so I’m always looking for any excuse to have them come over for a party!
Monsters University Party Food:
For dinner we made a Mike Wazowski Mexican Pizza. It was my own little spin on the traditional 7-layer dip and it turned out really great!

Here are the supplies you’ll need:
– Refrigerator Crescent Rolls (I ended up only using 1 can)
– 1/2 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
– Refried Beans
– Shredded Mexican Chicken (I baked one large Chicken breast for 30 minutes at 400 with Taco Seasoning sprinkled on it and 1/2 c. salsa)
– Fresh Guacamole (click here for my recipe)
– Sour Cream
– Sliced Olives
Step 1:
Press the crescent rolls into the bottom of a 10″ spring form pan or pizza pan. Bake for 12 minutes at 350. Once you pull it out of the oven sprinkle the cheese on and allow to cool. The cheese will not only add some cheesy goodness, but it also acts as a moisture barrier so the crust doesn’t get soggy from the toppings.
Step 2:
Using a rubber spatula or the back of a spoon, add a layer of refried beans. Sprinkle the chicken evenly over the beans.
Step 3:
Add the guacamole and spread evenly. Then add a dollop of sour cream to create the round eye and mouth. Finally, add the sliced olives to finish the look.
It isn’t spicy at all since I use mild salsa, so serve with additional salsa on the side or a bottle of hot sauce for those who want a little kick to it! 🙂
Monsters University Dessert – Oreo Monster Pops:
For a fun and interactive dessert I let the girls make these Oreo Monster Pops to eat during the movie. It was a lot of fun!
Here are the supplies you’ll need:
– Wilton Candy Melts
– Oreo cookies
– Sucker sticks
– Sprinkles
– Candy Eyes
Step 1:
I separated the cookie halves and added a little bit of melted chocolate to hold the stick in place and let them sit for about 10 minutes after I pushed the two cookie halves back together.
Step 2:
We melted the chocolate in the microwave, spread it on the Oreo cookies and then the girls got to add the candy eyes and sprinkles as they wanted.
Monsters University Movie Snacks:
With a delicious Mike Wazowski Mexican Pizza eaten, and the Oreo Monster Pops all made, we were ready for the movie! We had hot, buttery popcorn, soda and our cookies while we watched the show!
The girls had such a great time watching Monsters University and it was a really fun way to turn a traditional movie night into a themed party that the girls will always remember!
Such a fun party you had. I loved Monsters University when I took my grandsons. I might have to make them these cookie pops. Thanks for the idea!
What a fun party idea!! My daughter would love it! Thanks for sharing!!!
Ok, I love that you party it up with four little people! This is something I could definitely swing without feeling overwhelmed about it and showing the kiddos a great time too! Love it.
That pizza is darling!!!!
